On Friday, November 12, 2021, Paul and Koen paid tribute to Pat Martino.

A unique tribute to Pat Martino’s legendary album We’ll be Together Again. This famous record pairs the outstanding jazz guitarist Pat Martino with electric pianist Gil Goldstein for a song cycle that explores ballads and more meditative / contemplative material.

Watch Live Jazz presents NY gitarist Paul Bollenback and pianist Koen Schalkwijk.

Paul Norris Bollenback (born June 6, 1959) is a jazz guitarist who has appeared on Entertainment Tonight, The Tonight Show, The Today Show, Joan Rivers, and Good Morning America. He has performed with Scott Ambush, Charlie Byrd, Joey DeFrancesco, Herb Ellis, Della Reese, Arturo Sandoval, and Stanley Turrentine.[1] He is cited as a guitarist who uses modern quartal harmony.
Bollenback lived in India with his family when he was 11. After three years, the family returned to the U.S. and Bollenback began listening to rock music. He put down his nylon-string guitar and picked up an electric. He cites his discovery of Miles Davis as a pivotal moment in his life. He attended the University of Miami. In 1997, he began teaching at American University.

The Rotterdam pianist Koen Schalkwijk obtained his master’s degree in 2013 at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. He leads the band Koeniverse3 with which he recently released a CD, Two Cities ft. Joris Roelofs. He played at Jazz International Rotterdam and the Bimhuis in Amsterdam, among others, and is an avid user of this special instrument because of the warm sounds of the Wurlitzer (an electromechanical keyboard instrument).
